On Saturday, September 12, Dutch artist and designer Merel Karhof brings the Wind Knitting Factory to the Holland Museum. This mobile installation uses wind power to knit textiles in real time, turning renewable energy into art and making the creative process visible to the public.

Our Spark!Lab chapter is coming to a close, but there’s much more ahead for family learning at the Holland Museum. 💡

Thanks to FOX 17 Morning Mix for helping us share the story of Spark!Lab’s final days and a look at what comes next.

Families still have time for one last visit before Spark!Lab Smithsonian closes September 15, including free admission during our final Free Second Monday on September 14 from 4–7 p.m.

Then, we get to work on what’s next. The space will become the Wichers Gallery, with additional new family-focused learning spaces planned for 2027.
