Resident Spotlight: Lindsey Creel Cherry (and Kit!)

Lindsey has been developing new work while continuing her role as Assistant Professor of Drawing at Stephen F. Austin State University. Her experience, thoughtful observations, and generous feedback have been such a valuable addition to our critiques and conversations.

And of course, Lindsey joined the residency with Kit, who quickly became a very loved member of our group. Having them both with us has been one of the unexpected joys of this year.

We’re grateful to have you both, Lindsey and Kit, and excited to see where this new work goes.

Monterroso Gallery was present yesterday in Guatemala to celebrate with Maestro Alfredo García the opening of Fundación Paiz’s new cultural center and inaugural exhibition Arte y Memoria: Medio Siglo de la Bienal de Arte Paiz.

Alfredo joined fellow artists for a panel where he spoke about his career in Guatemala and his long history with the Bienal, including the Glifo de Oro, Glifo de Plata, and other recognitions over the years.

In these photos, you can see one of Alfredo’s works included in the exhibition.

We are honored to present his work in Houston. Congratulations, Alfredo! 🇬🇹

We’re excited to host ClayHouston’s Texas Tributaries: A Juried Regional Show at Monterroso Gallery this fall!

Ceramic artists across Texas and our neighboring states are invited to submit work for consideration by juror Anna Mayer.

Submissions close September 1.
Opening: November 13, 6–8 PM
On view November 13–December 4
