This Sunday at 3:00 PM, join the Lake George Historical Association for historian Glenn Underwood’s presentation, “George Foster Peabody and Lake George.”

Discover how George Foster Peabody (1852–1938) helped shape the future of Lake George through his commitment to conservation, public access, education, and progressive social causes. The program will explore Peabody’s role in preserving beloved public spaces such as Shepard Park, Hearthstone Point, and Prospect Mountain, as well as the history of his Lake George estate, Abenia.

The afternoon will also feature a special unveiling of a new portrait honoring Peabody’s lasting legacy in the region.

Attend in person at the museum or watch live on the Lake George Historical Association page. The presentation will also be archived on our website for later viewing.

Join the Lake George Historical Association on Sunday, May 17 at 3:00 PM for a compelling presentation by historian Glenn Underwood: “George Foster Peabody and Lake George.”

Learn about George Foster Peabody (1852–1938), the visionary philanthropist whose advocacy and generosity helped preserve some of Lake George’s most cherished public spaces, including Shepard Park, Hearthstone Point, and Prospect Mountain.

The program will also explore Peabody’s Lake George estate, Abenia, and its role in progressive causes such as education reform and women’s suffrage. The afternoon will conclude with the unveiling of a new portrait honoring Peabody’s enduring legacy in the region.
