Track 8 West Rebuild happening at Travel Town! The TTMF has hired the Sharp and Fellows company to safely rebuild the switch on Track 8 West. Here the crew is placing one of the 13 foot switch ties before they break for lunch. This work is being done in preparation for a NEW ARRIVAL at Travel Town that will take place later in the year!! The gift shop is open during construction.

Progress is continuing on the Union Pacific Dining Car as well as the Little Nugget Lounge car. Windows fixed, window shades going in, repairs to the floor and new pictures for the walls. Thank you to everyone that has donated to these projects, we couldn't do it without you.

Work continued on the Little Nugget Club Car this past weekend. Window work and the entrance stairs got a fresh coat of paint. The Squirrel Valley Railroad has been getting some upgrades including a custom built Howe Truss bridge that was donated to us by a family that dismantled their garden railroad. Look for more upgrades in the future.

Coming up this weekend....we have our Member's Only Play Day and tours of the Pullman Sleeping cars and the M.177 motor car. 10am - 3pm Saturday, August 8.

The Junction - Where Friendships Find Their Track

Some kids don’t just like trains, they absolutely love them. They’re the ones who can identify locomotives by sight, know the difference between paint schemes, and never get tired of watching trains roll by. While there are plenty of communities for adult railroad enthusiasts, there are very few places where older kids and teens who love trains can meet others their own age who share that same passion. The Junction was created to change that by bringing those kids together and helping friendships find their track.

We had another busy and productive weekend at Travel Town. Our volunteers spent time working on the Union Pacific Dining Car, cleaned some of the trains and spent time cleaning the Rio Vista Depot area. The Squirrel Valley Railroad was entertaining guests waiting for the train ride. The Squirrel Valley Railroad will be getting some upgrades soon....stay tuned.

Picnic in the Park...a fun and festive member-only event put on by Sandy, Travel Town Staff and Volunteers on June 14. Hot Dogs, watermelon, and ice cream were enjoyed by all. Cake walk, musical mats and the egg relay were the fun games that the kids (young and old alike) enjoyed. The Eagle Rock High School Band played patriotic themed tunes all day long. A very special thanks goes to our volunteers, staff, and Eagle Rock HS band....without them, these events wouldn't be possible. Thank you to all of our members for your continued support of the Travel Town Museum Foundation.
