Ten years ago, Colin Penndorf was a new graduate in Art and Interdisciplinary Studies from Middle Georgia State University. The artist group he had formed with his classmates was also graduating and taking on a new form apart from the university, the Ocmulgee Artist Guild. As he considered his options for a career, The 567 Center was looking for a new Fine Art Director. His experience was limited, but he had a passion for organizing artists which aligned with this job opening. To his surprise, The 567 Center decided to take a risk on a new graduate. What he didn't know was that The 567 Center would become his creative home base for countless opportunities for the next decade.

This is what creativity in Macon looks like!

The 567 brings people together through art, gives artists an outlet to share their work, and gives community members a safe place to create and learn something new.

To do this well, we need consistent support from people who believe in the power of the arts.

Monthly donors provide dependable funding that helps sustain classes and exhibits, improves organizational effectiveness, and lays the groundwork for future expansion.

Spend a cozy fall morning sipping coffee and painting with us at Sweet Eleanor’s! We’re popping up with paint and sip at this lovely little coffee shop and bakery. If you want to enjoy one of their freshly-baked seasonal pastries while you paint, too, we don’t blame you. Dee is a warm and encouraging instructor, so you’re sure to enjoy a relaxing experience, even if you’re a beginner painter. You’ll walk away with a lovely painting of a lantern in an autumn tree.

The arts are worth celebrating all year long, but we love that there’s a month dedicated to it—and people to come make art and celebrate a new exhibit with us! We believe art is for everyone. There are so many different ways to enjoy art and different art forms to inspire you.

The new exhibit is here!

Our gallery was transformed this week from abstract paintings and sculptures to all wood. Ryan Saddler’s furniture is displayed alongside turned wood platters, bowls and plates by Gary Blackburn. Their functional craft pieces are almost too beautiful use—we don’t blame you if you’d rather just hang them on your wall like a painting or set them on a table like a sculpture.

You can meet the artists and learn more about how they turn wood into art tonight. The First Friday reception is 5-8 pm, with an artist talk at 7 pm.
