Emerson Dorsch

Emerson Dorsch Miami Contemporary Art Gallery in Little Haiti. Emerson Dorsch reflects the generative partnership of founder Brook Dorsch and curator Tyler Emerson-Dorsch.

The contemporary art gallery represents select South Florida-based artists, and we also host leading visiting artists, curators and musicians to do projects at and around the gallery at least once per year. EDG began as Dorsch Gallery on Coral Way in 1991, moved to Wynwood in 2000, and re-opens in Little Haiti in 2017. Emerson Dorsch represents a core group of select South Florida-based artists. W

e believe in the joys of an artful life, of experiencing art close to the source. The gallery also has an invitational program for national and international artists to explore and seed new partnerships. Through all the gallery’s activities, we foster art patronage and artistic community.

💜 Thank You, Miami 💜

As we close this chapter of Emerson Dorsch, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to the artists, audiences, and community who have stood with us over the years. Your belief in the power of art and connection has been our guiding light.

Last night’s final program—a beautiful Movement Activation created by Dale Andree, with dancers Sun Young Park and Mary Spring—was a poetic expression of everything we hold dear: collaboration, care, and curiosity. Thank you for engaging so meaningfully with Karen Rifas’s exhibition, Miami to Maine, and for helping us mark this closing with such grace.

And to Karen Rifas—thank you for standing with us, one last time. Your work has been a compass for so many, and we are endlessly proud to have shared this journey with you.

With love and gratitude,
The Emerson Dorsch Family💕

✨ Celebrating Collective Support for the Arts ✨

There are many reasons why we devote ourselves as artists, collectors, gallerists, practitioners, and advocates for the arts—and today, during a special visit to Karen Rifas’s home, studio, and her exhibition Miami to Maine at Emerson Dorsch, we were reminded once again of the power of collective support for our artists.

This inspiring experience was part of ’ Collective Circle, a new initiative launching in celebration of Oolite’s 40th anniversary! 🎉 The Collective Circle brings together a community of art supporters to engage deeply with Miami’s artists through exclusive studio visits, exhibition tours, and conversations about artistic practice and creative evolution.

A heartfelt thank you to , their team, their supporters, and, of course, Karen Rifas for making today possible. 💫 We are so grateful to be part of a community that champions artists and their work!

✨ I woke up dreaming., curated by Patricia Margarita Hernández, opens tonight, Saturday, January 11, from 6–8 PM. The exhibition reflects on the boundaries between performance and daily life, inspired by the surreal and disorienting nature of our media-saturated world. 🌀🌙

This incredible group exhibition features artists exploring the dream state as a metaphor for reshaping reality, where the mundane transforms into the sublime, and the boundaries of possibility are stretched. We’re so proud of Jessica and the entire group of participating artists—especially the Miami crew making waves in NYC! 🌴✨

🌟 Happy New Year from Emerson Dorsch! 🌟
As we step into 2025, we reflect on the insights shared through Felecia Chizuko Carlisle’s exhibition, “Matter is a Verb.”

Carlisle reminds us:“Vibration organizes matter and, in turn, forms every ‘thing.’”

This New Year, we’re inspired by the idea that matter itself is in motion, vibrating, transforming, and performing without needing to be shaped by external forces. Like Carlisle’s work, which layers textures and mathematical systems to evoke infinite, non-repetitive patterns, we embrace the duality of creation and resistance, of permanence and change.

Let us carry this thought into 2025: Can the process of creation, consolidating, and shaping be thought of as a form of resistance against the forces that seek to dissolve or displace that order?🌌💫

Thank you to our incredible community of artists, supporters, and friends for being part of our journey. Here’s to a New Year of growth, evolution, and boundless creativity!

🌊 At Untitled Art Miami Beach 🌊

Emerson Dorsch Gallery presents Travel, Translation, Transmission, Transition, featuring works by Eleen Lin, Jen Clay, Elisabeth Condon, Moira Holohan, and Judd Schiffman.

🎨 Artist Highlight: Eleen Lin 🎨
Eleen Lin’s comic history paintings reimagine scenes from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, blending her lived experiences across Taiwan, Thailand, China, the UK, and the US. Her vibrant, hallucinatory compositions weave retro sci-fi elements with hyper-contemporary themes, reframing Melville’s classic tale through witty social commentary. Lin’s work reflects cultural misunderstandings, translation gaps, and fandom missteps, creating a fresh narrative that bridges centuries of storytelling—from ancient Chinese and Thai narrative painting to 17th-century English comic history artist William Hogarth.

Born in Taiwan and raised in Thailand, Eleen Lin’s multicultural background deeply influences her work. A graduate of Yale University School of Art (MFA, 2008) and the Slade School of Fine Art (BA, 2005), Lin’s practice merges Chinese ink painting traditions with Western techniques, creating layered, dynamic compositions. Her works have been exhibited worldwide and are part of prestigious collections like the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.

✨At Untitled Art Miami Beach✨ Booth C52

Moira Holohan’s fiber, 2D and video work often incorporates Chroma Green as a color and signifier, representing a portal, a marker of unstable identity, and a place of transformation. For her works at Untitled Art Miami Beach, Holohan has made a series of woven works from stop motion animation stills. In this case, the short animation is of a certain pop culture ghost. Her style is reminiscent of washes in a Helen Frankenthaler painting. And of course, there is that color. Holohan often employs humor, characterized by a smart play on words or image. Here, she daisy chains connections from American horror film franchises to New York painting in the 20th century. Following Holohan’s lead down into the Chroma Green void might lead one to the discovery of Frankenthaler’s enormous tribute to the color green, a painting called Sea Change.
