The Muncie and Western Model Railroad Club announces its 34th Annual Muncie Model Train Show to be held Saturday, February 28 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Delaware County Fairgrounds at 1210 N. Wheeling Avenue. Admission is only $5 for each adult—children 12 and under are admitted free. Indiana’s largest, longest-running, single-day model train show will be held in both the Memorial and Heartland buildings. Proceeds from the train show are used to maintain the new operating model train exhibit at the Muncie Children’s Museum.

The Muncie and Western Model Railroad Club hosts this fun and educational annual event to raise funds to maintain the new operating 3-rail O-gauge layout at the Muncie Children’s Museum and repair and add new locomotives and train cars on the museum’s layout. These are trains seen on today’s railroads in and around Muncie and throughout Indiana and represent important transportation and logistical careers.

At the show, children of all ages will be enchanted by operating model train layouts in several scales as well as seeing circus memorabilia, railroad historical societies, and visiting vendors selling model trains to help you get started in this fun family hobby. Parking is free and food will be available for sale on-site
as a fundraiser for local Boy Scouts.

Come enjoy a few hours or the day with us and learn more about this awesome hobby.

Ball State alumni Brandon and Kyle Mundell run Toys Forever Models and Hobbies in downtown Muncie, inspiring creativity across generations by reminding the community that it’s never too late to play.

Our newest addition to the layout pays homage to the movie 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind', which was directed by Steven Spielberg and debuted in 1977. The first half of the movie takes place in (fictional) Muncie, Indiana. The truck in the film is a 1973 Ford F-250 3/4 ton, the yellow work truck driven by Roy Neary, played by Richard Dreyfuss. In the movie, the truck is at a railroad crossing on Cornbread Road when lights from a UFO shine down on the truck.

We did our best to recreate the truck from the movie. We invite everyone to come see it at the Muncie Children's Museum.
