In the late 1800s through early 1900s, the art world recognized Brown County, Indiana as a premier art colony. Many of the period’s leading artists captured breathtaking landscapes and pioneered new schools of artistic expression in the hills of southern Indiana.

We are honored to preserve the legacy of our founding artists, and to showcase our current artists today.

Welcome to our newest Guest Artist, Scott Sullivan!

Scott is a resident of Bloomington and received his degree in Architectural Drafting from Vincennes University. He has won numerous awards with the Hoosier Salon, T.C. Steele Fall and spring paint outs, the New Harmony First Brush of Spring and the Indiana Heritage Arts.

Scott’s background in drafting and design gives him a strong understanding of perspective and composition. He is challenged by the immediacy of plein-air painting and is attracted to the demand of making decisions quickly. He has studied under Don Stone, N. A. in Monhegan Island, Maine, and local Indiana artists Robert Hoffman and Fred Doloresco. Scott’s works are in several private collections and also in galleries across the state.
