Last weekend to see Pop-Up “Memorial Monuments in Ridgewood and Glendale”. PFC Richard A Gilley is honored at Fairview and Putman at the GRYC building property, formerly American Legion Post 562. Born in 1947, Gilley grew up on Harmon Street, Ridgewood and lived in Maspeth as an adult. Big Thank you to all who participated in our Walking Tour of Ridgewood North! Here’s some information on IS 93:

Although not a designated historic building and not in the district, IS 93 opened in September 1917. In 1961, it was converted to a Junior High School. The additional construction enabled the building to occupy the entire block. During the construction the very top of the building was modified, but a piece of the ornate cornice was preserved.

Our next Walking Tour is May 17th and we will be exploring Ridgewood South!
