Last weekend to see Pop-Up “Memorial Monuments in Ridgewood and Glendale”. PFC Richard A Gilley is honored at Fairview and Putman at the GRYC building property, formerly American Legion Post 562. Born in 1947, Gilley grew up on Harmon Street, Ridgewood and lived in Maspeth as an adult. He was just 20 years old - just a month before his 21st birthday when he died from wounds received at Gia Dinh, Vietnam on January 31, 1968. Gilley served in the Army Light Weapons Infantry and was buried with honors, including the Purple Heart in the National Cemetery on Long Island, Farmingdale.
