Today, we remember Jimmy Prince, who was born on April 22, 1932 and was the longtime proprietor of Major Markets, Coney Island's oldest butcher shop. "Jimmy was one of a kind," says Charles Denson, director of the Coney Island History Project. "He was the joyful heart of Coney Island and his store was the last vestige of a world that is gone forever. He can never be replaced." You can watch “The Prince of Mermaid Avenue,” Charles Denson's award-winning 2009 documentary about Jimmy Prince on his Coneyologist channel on YouTube: https://youtu.be/qgoxPcz1Il4
