A legacy of science. A gift to the future. ๐ŸŒŸ

We are proud to continue to offer financial support to families through the Homer D. Adkins Science Scholarship for students attending AMSE Summer Science Camp this June.

Homer Adkins was an Oak Ridge original โ€” a devoted student of science and geography who spent 35 years as a Reactor Operator at ORNL's Graphite, ORR, and HFIR reactors. He passed away in February 2023 at the age of 94, leaving behind a community that deeply loved and admired him.

In his honor, his daughter Linda and the Adkins family โ€” joined by friends and supporters โ€” established this scholarship so that no student who loves science should miss out on this experience simply because of cost.

To apply, students submit a one-page essay to [email protected] describing their love of science and why they're excited to attend camp. Camp registration can be found at: https://pci.jotform.com/form/260735595489070

Camp runs June 15โ€“19 for rising 5thโ€“7th graders. Don't let cost be a barrier โ€” this scholarship exists for exactly that reason.

If you know a young scientist who deserves this opportunity, please share. ๐Ÿ’™
