Oklahoma Contemporary recently launched a new, central location at NW 11th and Broadway in downtown Oklahoma City. The new centerdramatically increases Oklahoma Contemporary’s capacity for free, internationally relevant exhibitions and programming and increase art access and education for citizens of Oklahoma, students and visitors alike. Developed by and for Oklahomans to present and explore the key innovations, issues and concerns of the art of our time, Oklahoma Contemporary does so while drawing on the dynamic aesthetic, cultural, historical and political landscape of the state. At its core, the institution is an inclusive space – Oklahoma Contemporary believes that art is for everyone and places accessibility and education at the center of all programming. Oklahoma Contemporary is a regional 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1989 by businessman and philanthropist Christian Keesee and Kirkpatrick Foundation Director Marilyn Myers.

Directed by David Salle, the dark comedy follows a struggling businessman whose pursuit of success leads him into an increasingly unpredictable series of encounters.

Meet Rosa Loy, one of the artists featured in Clever, Quick, Magnetic: The Art of Witty Banter at Oklahoma Contemporary.

Born in Zwickau, Germany, in 1958, Loy is a leading figure in Leipzig's celebrated painting scene, a city whose artistic traditions have helped shape generations of German painters. She is associated with the New Leipzig School, alongside her husband and fellow artist Neo Rauch.

Working primarily with casein, a traditional milk-based paint, Loy creates mysterious worlds populated by women, plants, and symbolic imagery. Her paintings draw on folklore, mythology, and everyday life, often leaving viewers to piece together their own interpretations.

Curated by David Salle, Clever, Quick, Magnetic: The Art of Witty Banter brings together artists with distinct visual languages. Like guests at a lively gathering, each painting contributes its own character and perspective, creating conversations that extend beyond the individual works.

Join the Metro Library for a genre-bending performance, followed by a panel discussion about the role of dance in contemporary art. This event is in conjunction with the exhibition Choose Your Own Adventure: The Art of the Art by Denise Duong and Gabriel Friedman which features sketches and models by the artists. It offers a behind the scenes glimpse of the creation process for their large-scale public art. This show is inspired by their recent and largest effort, Formless Matter and Its Devastating Gestures, in Campbell Art Park. You'll get to see the planning, experimentation and artistry that go into making over 25 of the Oklahoma City artists’ sculptures and murals come to life.
