Music, movement, and light came together for an unforgettable evening inside Anthony McCall: Solid Light.

Presented in partnership with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, guests experienced a special in-gallery performance featuring musicians Angelika Machnik-Jones (cello), Connor Stevens (marimba), and Music Director Alexander Mickelthwate (piano). Set among McCall’s immersive installations, the performance transformed the gallery into a space where sound and light could be experienced in entirely new ways.

We are also deeply grateful to Randy and Mendi Coleman, whose generous support as Music and Light Performance Sponsor helped make this unique collaboration possible. Their commitment to the arts and to creating meaningful cultural experiences in our community made the evening all the more special.

Light, sound, and movement connect beneath the surface.
Chad Mount shares his evolving process and exploration of light as both material and experience. Documenting how reflected laser light behaves through sound, water, and cymatic interactions (a method of visualizing sound), this study begins to map a deeper understanding of light as an atmospheric and spatial presence.
As Mount describes it, "Even when it appears as a singular line, the light contained within that beam is constantly dancing."
Opening June 25 in the Mary LeFlore Clements Oklahoma Gallery. Visit okcontemp.org/chadmount to learn more!
