Mixed media on paper: fabric, paper straw & crayon

Today’s cheerful creation is a masterclass in mixing materials! 🎨✨ Our young artist paired a sunny yellow face with bold blue features, cartoon dog-print fabric for the body, and festive black, white & silver paper straws for the arms and legs.

The smile suggests confidence. The dog-print ensemble suggests even more confidence. And why draw ordinary arms and legs when paper straws exist? 😄🐶

We love the playful use of color, pattern & texture to give this smiling figure plenty of personality!

🎮 BEAM Play: Run, jump, move, and compete for a new high score!

🎧 Low Sensory Session: Enjoy a calmer Museum experience with reduced capacity and adjusted stimulation for kiddos who prefer a quieter playtime.

🍁 Sunday STEAM: Will it sink or float? Put your scientific thinking to the test as we explore buoyancy with leaves, acorns, pinecones, mini pumpkins, and other fall favorites!

🌊💨 Turbines, tidepools & hands-on discovery!

A big THANK YOU to Salem Sound Coastwatch for bringing Turbines & Tidepools to NSCM yesterday!

Our young scientists:
💨 Built & tested DIY turbines
🦀 Met crabs and snails in marine life touch tanks
🔬 Explored wind power, tidepool habitats & coastal science through PLAY!
