If you have yet to stop by the Carnegie Museum to check out "Seeing Red" -- there is still time!

"Seeing Red" is a textile- and fiber-based art show exploring the spectrum of emotions, symbolism, & interpretations invoked by a single color...RED.

In this show, you will find a wide variety of mediums within the fiber art realm such as pieces like "Erato" pictured here!

Artist, Lisa M. Hermesmeyer, says of this piece: "My artistic goal is to transition and transform everyday, utilitarian items into intricate 3D fiber sculptures. Erato is one of my 9 Greek Muses. Red was used to evoke the warmth, emotion and feelings of love, attraction & sensuality. Her red soft double ply hand spun hair invites human touch to connect to it. Her red turban scarf and colorful fringe for bangs invites closer views of ribbons and yarns. The crocheted red crown of unspun wool adorns Erato’s head with a dignified desire."

**********************

"Seeing Red" is open now until September 13, 2026 in the 1st floor galleries of the Carnegie Museum.

We are also hosting the "Seeing Red" Artist Spotlight Reception this Friday, September 4 from 6-8pm! We will be welcoming many of the featured artists in "Seeing Red" to discuss their artwork. We are also working with some other Fiber Club* artists to line up some live performance art pieces for us. Melanie Manos will be performing her piece entitled "Full Steam (A Head)" in the main galleries around 7pm!

Light refreshments will be provided.

This is a FREE event. However, donations to the Port Huron Museums to help us continue bringing beautiful exhibits like this to our galleries are always appreciated!

🚎 WE ARE HIRING! 🚎

Do you have interest in driving our PHM trolley? Now is your chance!

We are looking for eligible people to be dependable and consistent Trolley Drivers for our historical tours around town and for rental parties. While this position offers flexibility and the ability to set your own schedule, we are looking for dedicated drivers.

Our public trolley tours have traditionally run April through December each year, with a break occurring January through March. We are currently looking to expand our trolley season to cover 11 months of the year. During the season, we run over 50 tours and rentals; summer months being the most busy.

We are seeking reliable and experienced drivers to join our team as independent contractors. As a Trolley Driver, you will be responsible for transporting guests on historical trolley tours narrated by a Port Huron Museum employee throughout Port Huron and transporting parties to and from event locations.

If you are interested in learning more about or applying for this fun, community-oriented position please see the job posting on Indeed via this link:
