From Washington County History Roundtable:

Washington County’s historical collections—including photographs, artifacts, and archives—are at a critical turning point. The nonprofit that cared for the collection has closed and the county government does not want to maintain permanent responsibility. The Washington County Board of Commissioners will open a request for Proposals (RFP) Process in 2031, to find a new group to save the collection and make it accessible to the public again. Our local Washington County History Roundtable group is gathering public input to help guide decisions on a path forward to save the collection and continue preserving our community memory. No prior knowledge is needed—the survey takes about 2 minutes. You can take anonymously or include your name/email.

Monday, May 11th is our next Partnerships and Outreach Affinity Group, hosted by Val Van Alstyne, Executive Director at Albany Regional Museum and OMA Board Member!

This meet-up will be focused on the impact and power of outreach and community partnerships. It’s for nonprofit leaders, staff, volunteers, community advocates, and business professionals. We can discuss the art of relationship building and talk about common obstacles and strategies for working through them like building trust, recognizing cultural sensitivity, and resource needs. I hope to collaborate on best practices and learn from each other during this time together.

Join us this Friday, May 8 at 1pm for a great conversation on Board Governance! This free online affinity group is led by Nicia Ahrenholtz, Co-President of Adventure! Children's Museum.

Our Board Governance affinity group is a supportive space for museum board members, trustees, and advisory council members! Board service can be a solo journey, and this is a rare chance to connect with peers from other organizations. Join us to dive into the unique challenges of museum governance, share insights on strategic oversight, discuss effective fundraising, and fiduciary duties. Together we can trade best practices, problem-solve, and build a vital network of shared support for confident leadership.
