Lookout Landscape is officially on view at the Discovery Museum!

The exhibition explores the iconic lookout tower, trail culture, and backcountry gear as a way to look at the rich (and sometimes conflicting) relationships between “working forests” and the people who call them home.

Featuring the work of David Buckley Borden and an interdisciplinary team of scientists, artists, and designers, Lookout Landscape explores Pacific Northwest forests through art, design, and science.

Today was pretty special. We got to see our 60th Anniversary Pendleton blanket, “A Story of Growth,” on the finishing line!

Some of our staff, along with artist Genevieve Fu, toured the Pendleton mill in Washougal, WA, to see the incredible process from wool to blanket. We ended the day by watching our very own blankets receive their final touches.

A huge thank you to the team at Pendleton Woolen Mills for giving us such a wonderful and personal tour of the mill and walking us through the craftsmanship behind this special blanket.

One damn fine day! 🪵🌲

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Log Lady Day to honor the life and legacy of Catherine E. Coulson, the unforgettable Log Lady from Twin Peaks, and the forests she believed in.

From damn fine coffee and donuts to Log Lady crafts, screenings of “I know Catherine, The Log Lady,” the look-alike contest, and seeing Catherine’s original on-screen log, glasses, and memorabilia, the Discovery Museum was full of Log Lady fans from near and far.

Something new is taking shape 👀🌲

A little behind-the-scenes look at our next art exhibition, Lookout Landscape. David Buckley Borden and his fantastic team are hard at work making this immersive trail experience come to life inside the Discovery Museum!

Helping bring it all together are artists ZORA, Andy Dickinson, dreams_redu, and Nancy Silvers.

Lookout Landscape will be on display September 5, 2026 - February 28, 2027.
