The Romeo Historical Society We maintain and operate two museums and an Arts & Archive Center. We hold events and presentations throughout the year. Please join us!

We are a volunteer organization totally funded through our memberships, donations, grants and the events we hold throughout the year. We maintain and operate two museums, The Bancroft-Stranahan House, The Clyde Craig Blacksmith Shop, and an Arts & Archive Center. These buildings are part of our area history where you can learn about our past through exhibits and artifacts.

☀️ Annual Summer Potluck this Thursday - June 4th! We can’t wait to gather with our wonderful community. Whether you’re a long-time member or thinking about joining us for the first time, all are welcome!

Join us for a relaxed evening of good food, great conversation, and more!

📍 Where: Blacksmith Museum (301 N Bailey St., Romeo)

A plant for our plant exchange! 🌱

A folding chair to get comfortable on the grass 🪑

We will also be holding our Annual Elections for 3 Trustees, Treasurer, President, and Vice-President. We look forward to seeing you there! 👋

The Romeo Historical Society is now accepting donations for our upcoming Flea-N-Tique on Saturday, June 13!

We are looking for antique, vintage, and newer items in good condition. Please note: we are unable to accept clothing donations or paper goods. You may drop off items on any upcoming Tuesday between 7-9pm at the Romeo Historical Society Arts and Archives Center at 290 N. Main Street.

All proceeds from the sale benefit the Romeo Historical Society.

Thank you to everyone who came out to honor Richard Beringer at his memorial.

To continue Richard’s legacy of supporting education and local history, the Romeo Historical Society will award future scholarships in his name to Romeo High School students.

If you were unable to attend the memorial but would still like to contribute, donations to the Richard Beringer Fund are being accepted indefinitely. Donations can be brought to 290 N. Main St. any Tuesday evening from 7–9pm or mailed with the memo “Richard Beringer Fund” to:

After a full month of deep cleaning, organizing, and giving the place some much-needed TLC, the Northeast Oakland Historical Museum is officially OPEN again today!

The doors are back open and we’re ready to welcome you in to explore, learn, and reconnect with the stories that shaped our community. Come see what’s new, what’s been polished up, and what’s always worth remembering.
