Zarel Perez Gallegos’ “Beyond it All, Do you Recognize Me?” exhibition is now on view from 10/13 - 10/16 in the Witt Gallery. From the artist:

“Collection of works celebrating the artist’s Mexican-American background, highlighting how both cultures meld and clash to shape who the artist is by using surrealist and experimental imagery. The works deal with themes of religion, immigration, and most importantly, Family.”

“’Fallen Nature’ considers the conflict between what is broken and what still reaches toward beauty; reflecting on my own wrestling with a fallen nature and living in a fallen world. “The Female Experience: the precarious, yet entirely possible scenarios of fear that run through one’s head on a day-to-day basis. ‘Femme Fatale’ reflects on and responds to this unfortunate familiarity and reality, embodying women’s strength and the accumulated rage of centuries of ongoing mistreatment.”

Reilly Devlin’s “habituated” is presently on view in the Witt Gallery from 9/15 - 9/18. From the artist:

“‘habituated’ addresses what happens when one becomes accustomed to a certain condition or situation. Sometimes this can be positive, especially in relation to creating a safe space, but, on the other hand, can be something that becomes stagnancy rather than exploration. The subject of this show is how home differs for everyone but originates from a similar place of seeking safety for most.”

Tropeycalia Club is proud to present their latest collaborative project, “Título Salvaje ⇄ Salvaged Title,” a multidisciplinary exploration of cultural identity and political resistance. Rooted in the revolutionary spirit of the 1960s Brazilian Tropicália movement, this trio of artists uses paintings, mixed media, and installations to cannibalize and expose the absurdities of cultural imperialism and consumerism. By employing satire and pointed humor as subversive tools, their work draws on the legacy of colonialism to advocate for cultural sovereignty in an increasingly fragmented, hyper-globalized world. Through this fosterage of critical consciousness, Tropeycalia Club aims to provoke dialogue around social justice and the ongoing struggles for self-determination.

The exhibition is on view in the Library Gallery from 9/01 – 10/16. A reception will be held on Thursday, 9/3, 5-7PM.
