Gefen Gallery

Gefen Gallery Contemporary art gallery based in San Francisco, CA. Gefen Gallery is a group of three galleries totaling over 10,000 square feet of exhibition space.

Our first gallery opened at 239 Grant Avenue, the second in the lobby of The Fairmont Hotel at the top of Nob Hill, and the third, our five-story flagship gallery, at 315 Grant Avenue in the heart of Union Square’s shopping district in San Francisco, CA. Gefen Gallery is dedicated to curating and exhibiting contemporary works of established artists from around the world as well as nurturing and su

pporting our emerging artists. Our artists are all renowned for their art and work in a variety of media, from painting to sculpture. We select artists revered for their high-quality work and their tireless dedication to their art. Our Gallery embodies this same work ethic and thus has been at the forefront of the art scene since its inception. This is largely due to our roster of internationally acclaimed and emerging artists including Joel Amit, Patrick Rubinstein, Julien Marinetti, Craig Alan, Terry O'Neill, Norman Parkinson, Björn Persson, David Begbie, Rainer Lagemann, and David Hollier, among others.

Artist Spotlight 【Karla de Lara】

Recognized as the “Mother of Hyperrealist Pop Art,” Karla de Lara transforms wax, industrial dyes, and luminous enamel surfaces into works that shift between abstraction and realism.

Through her mastery of light, texture, and optical perception, her compositions capture the energy of urban culture and emotional memory with striking intensity.

With over 350 solo exhibitions across nearly 40 countries, de Lara has become a defining voice in contemporary Mexican art.

Now on view at Gefen Gallery.

New works by Francisco Valverde now on view in Gefen Gallery.

Built through meticulously layered resin lines and luminous geometric structure, Valverde’s compositions explore movement, rhythm, and the emotional resonance of color.

Oscillating between precision and spontaneity, the works transform painting into a tactile and meditative experience where texture, light, and perception continuously shift with the viewer.

Claudia Limacher, New Works

In this latest body of work, Limacher creates immersive, atmospheric fields that hover between landscape and abstraction.

Veils of luminous color dissolve into one another, while dense, particulate mark-making gathers at the edges, forming a quiet tension between diffusion and accumulation.

These works evoke the sensation of nature, rather than its image. Fleeting, layered, and just beyond focus.

Artist Spotlight: Francisco Valverde (b. 1972, Cuernavaca, Mexico).

Valverde’s practice is rooted in essence—reducing painting to gesture, surface, and presence. His philosophy centers on freedom as clarity, where each mark is intentional yet open, allowing intuition to guide without excess.

Through restrained, rhythmic compositions, he builds a quiet space of connection between artist, material, and viewer—where meaning emerges through what is held back as much as what is revealed.

Available through Gefen Gallery.
