Secrets & Stories of the Sanibel Lighthouse

Rumors spread through crowded hotels, on social media sites, and in storm shelters: “the lighthouse is gone.” And, it wasn’t until “dawn’s early light” on September 29, 2022, that we knew our light tower was “still there.” In disbelief, people whispered, “the keepers cottages are … gone.” Standing bravely on three legs, the lighthouse symbolized the grievous injury we all felt.

Now mended, the lighthouse, the pulsing heart of Sanibel Island, proudly stands as a beacon of hope for resilience and recovery.

Secrets and Stories of the Sanibel Lighthouse is a remarkable documentary about the beloved lighthouse, completed just months before Hurricane Ian.
