Upcoming exhibition: Nancy Scheinman

Opening reception with the artist,
May 10th 5-7pm

Fusing beauty, meditation and personal experience, Nancy Scheinman creates thought provoking paintings. Layering is fundamental to her work, with patterns — printed, painted and incised. She layers time. Her use of acid washes on sheets of copper suggest an alchemist’s approach, producing shapes and textures out of which narratives emerge. Their obsessive embellishment lends them a gorgeous power and vibrant energy.

Kate Rivers, a lover of books, constructs her unique collages using book spines, ephemera and oil sticks. She works with color and texture creating large wall pieces sewn together with metallic thread on an industrial sewing machine and mounts these large collages on to canvas.

T’was the night before Christmas on Canyon Road,
the farolitos were lit and the air hung with piñon.
Galleries open, strung with ristras and lights,
Carolers singing, so cheery and bright.
Families gathered from near and afar,
New friends were made; now off to the bar!
A merrier scene would be hard to imagine,
Than a Farolito Walk up and down Canyon.
