Throughout the day, we held three beautiful ceremonies to commemorate the occasion and honor the brave men and women who gave their all so that we may live in freedom. ❤️🤍💙

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice made the freedoms we enjoy today possible. They will never be forgotten.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served and to the families who carry their legacy forward. ❤️🤍💙

In observance of Memorial Day, we are honored to offer free tours to veterans and families of fallen service members at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 2:00 PM.

⚓ Happy Launch Day to the SS American Victory!

Today, 81 years ago, the American Victory began her long and distinguished career as a cargo ship, serving the U.S. military by delivering vital supplies wherever they were needed most.

Today, she proudly lives on as a remarkable floating museum, honoring the legacy of the U.S. Merchant Marine and the Naval Armed Guard, as well as the sacrifices they made during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.

We are proud to preserve her history and share her story with future generations. 🚢✨

⚓Today we celebrate National Maritime Day!

Observed each year on May 22, this day honors the vital contributions of the maritime industry and the U.S. Merchant Marine to our nation’s security, commerce, and economy.

National Maritime Day also commemorates the historic voyage of the SS Savannah, which departed Savannah, Georgia, on May 22, 1819, becoming the first steamship to successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean.

Today, we recognize the men and women of the maritime community—past and present—whose dedication keeps our nation moving. 🌊🚢

Join us onboard The SS American Victory Ship, newly designated Official Flagship of Florida, for Memorial Day. The historic ship will open at 10 a.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the ship and participate in special activities throughout the day.

The SS American Victory Ship, newly designated Official Flagship of Florida, will honor Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, with a full day of special programming recognizing the sacrifices of the nation’s service members. The historic World War II cargo ship will open two hours early at 10 a.m. and remain open through regular operating hours. Guests will receive a poppy while supplies last.

George

Although his home ship is now the permanently docked American Victory, George is no stranger to life at sea. For four years, he served aboard Naval vessels as a Hospital Corpsman. Sailors in this vital role receive specialized medical training to care for the health and well-being of the crew aboard ship.

Today, George educates guests by transporting them through time, sharing not only historical knowledge, but also relatable life experiences and stories from his own service.
