City Island Nautical Museum The City Island Nautical Museum exhibits objects relating to City Island, including boat building and community history

The Nautical Museum is a five-room exhibit space devoted to City Island and its community history, as well as its yacht-building past, with a library of maritime books and journals, documents relating to local history, and artifacts, including boats and boat-making tools, and works of art by local artists.

This week the Museum joyfully welcomed Charlie 'Butch' Ulmer (formerly of City Island's UK Sails) with members of the Larchmont Yacht Club. Their afternoon visit on Wednesday, May 20, included time with the Museum's exhibits, especially the Sail Making, Nautical and Community Rooms, as well as moments with the new America's Cup exhibit lining the hallway. After leaving the Museum, the group journeyed to the City Island Yacht Club for conversation and camaraderie, joined by members of the Museum Board.

The second school to visit the Museum this past week, on Wednesday, May 20, was P.S. 32 from the Belmont section of the Bronx. Third and fourth graders explored every exhibit, asking questions and trying their hand at steering on the seas!

On this Monday, , we welcomed Third Graders from P.S. 175 The City Island School for a special tour of the Museum. Filled with lots of questions and great excitement, the students explored each room. At the end of the visit, when asked what their favorite part was, they declared together: "Everything!"

🌼 NEW DISPLAYS on the America’s Cup and City Island’s role in producing numerous winning yachts in the Museum Hallway, and an exhibit of colored etchings of America’s Cup winners by Mark Whitcombe in the Museum Library
🌼 UPDATED EXHIBITS in our Community and Nautical Rooms.
The Museum is open Mother’s Day Weekend, Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, from 1 to 4 PM.
