'Vacation' by Sara Crochet

'This photo was shot in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza, during the last year of my 20s. I was traveling from place to place, trying to refind myself. For years I had let the worry of what others thought rule me, until I realized I had spent so long masking who I was that I no longer knew myself underneath it. I had given my worth away, piece by piece, to other people's opinions. I was traveling to get it back.

I didn't know it yet, but I was standing in a place named for the saint who helps you find what's lost.

I was sitting in the row of chairs behind her, journaling and writing postcards, feeling guarded and so small. Then I saw her. Her walker was anchored in the sand, her umbrella overhead, her bathing suit halfway on. Nothing could touch her. She saw me, she knew I was watching, and she didn't shift, didn't perform, didn't care. The beach moved around us, kids playing, boats drifting, life continuing, and she just stayed still.

In watching her, I found a version of myself I had been looking for. A reminder to drop the tension in my shoulders, and let go. No judgment. No care for any of it. Just stillness, ease, nowhere else to be.

Since then I've told myself "let her be," and it has been my reminder these past few years, to stop the pressure I put on myself, to drop the self judgment, to actually enjoy being in my body. She was already doing it. That's how she became my patron saint of self-possession.'

'Silhouette Sunset' by Marcus Holloway

'I'm a big fan of silhouettes, so shadows naturally catch my eye. When I took this photograph, I was at the skate park as the sun was coming down. I sat in one spot and made a series of images of skaters passing in the middle of the bowl. I had quite a few beautiful shots of these skaters and their elongated shadows, but this image was my favorite. In post, I really wanted to push myself to do something new with editing. After playing around in Lightroom, I crafted a look I fell in love with and now I get to share the finished product with you!'

'The Sort' by John Morris

The Sort was photographed aboard a working shrimp boat along the Texas coast. There was nothing staged about the moment...just two crewmen moving through the familiar rhythm of sorting the day's catch while the gulls circled overhead.

I have always been drawn to the working side of the coast...the people, boats and routines that often go unnoticed alongside the beaches and sunrises we more commonly associate with coastal life. Here, I simply watched and photographed as the work unfolded in front of me.

'Laguna' by Stephanie Bethel

'This photo captures a moment in time at Laguna Beach during a vacation there. The sunset was perfect and the people in the foreground as well as the those who are against the sky on top of the rocks seem like a perfect composition and you can almost see the movement of all people in the photo. The beach is one of my all time favorite places and when I have a chance to shoot there, it always satisfies me.'
