'What would a world without birdsong be like?

Studies have shown that hearing birds decreases anxiety and depression. It is not yet understood how birdsong affect our brains, but neuroimaging studies have found brain responses of stress reduction to other forms of nature exposure.

I was hoping to raise awareness around the deaths of migratory birds I found dead on the beaches at Catherine Hill Bay during an artist's residency in 2024. I was made aware of an article suggesting it is the warming waters killing their food source which is responsible.

Experts warn the warming climate is interfering with the migratory bird's food source, causing them to starve to death upon arrival for breeding season. The unfamiliar landscapes due to soil erosion are further keeping these birds from surviving.

We can all work together to fight climate change and stop further degradation to our coastal areas. New research reveals how missing seed dispersers are quietly limiting tropical forest recovery.
