Next time you visit Tucson Botanical Gardens, look for our most recent memorial bench. It was commissioned in remembrance of three U of A students who tragically lost their lives after being hit by a car in a crosswalk. It is a nighttime desert scene with a full moon and three large stars, each representing one of the students. The photographs are in reverse order.

A year of preparation, drawings, layouts, tile making, kiln firings, heat setting, creative juices, and 30+ hours of installation all condensed into 3 minutes!
We are absolutely thrilled to work with our very own Reid Park Zoo in Tucson! This bench is 25 feet long and located just left of the zoo’s entrance. Our artistes created handfuls of custom animal and plant tiles over the last 3 months. Installation was completed today after 6 very early mornings. When you visit make sure to keep an eye out for your favorite animal, insect, or pollinator we love to hide little details throughout our mosaics!
Thank you to all of our volunteers and the zoo staff for helping us along the way. A special thanks to our volunteer Jen for putting in 30+ hours to help Carrie and Maddie get this mosaic up!
