WarMurals.com is dedicated to the historical and educational documentation, preservation, and discussion of the deployment art and stories of those who have served in the ongoing conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan. The painted T-Walls and barriers of the Middle East are ubiquitous downrange but are frequently overlooked and quickly ignorned once the original artist return home. There are thousands of these murals scattered across the world that are left in a state of decay to fade away in the harsh climates they are left in. Many are already gone forever and many more are likely only survive in photographs as a quick snapshot of a unit's identity, and a monument to a life changing experience for those that served. Please join in collecting, cataloging and sharing the deployment art and the memories they represent. ALL NIGHT LONG at Erbil Air Base (EAB), Iraq- OIR 25

Minnesota and Iowa National Guard’s St. Cloud-based B Company, 1-171st General Support Aviation Battalion, (formally Bravo company 2-211th GSAB), 34th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade adopted Lionel Richie as their official mascot in 2010-2011 while in Iraq. With call sign 'Night Long', the unit provided the only CH-47 Chinook helicopter support for Operation New Dawn from 2010 to its formal end in December 2011 when the last US Troops left Iraq. The company moved nearly 50,000 passengers and over 4 million pounds of cargo over nearly 7,700 nighttime flight hours.

Tower graffiti by Soldiers at FOB Paliwoda, Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom III (2004–2005).

Records of the phrase go back to at least 2003 to describe the frustration felt by troops when the expected high tempo combat operations become replaced with the reality of working in strict, mundane garrison rules that resemble bureaucratic peacetime regulations and grinding repetitive days.
