OBSIDIAN | Did you know? Obsidian, a naturally occurring black volcanic glass, has fascinated Jean-Michel Othoniel since the early 1990s. His experiments with this mysterious material marked the beginning of his exploration of glass and introduced him to the world of glassmakers.
In ‘Diary of Happiness’, the Armenian room echoes this long-standing fascination. Armenia holds a special place in this story, with its remarkable deposits of obsidian, a vitrified volcanic lava that has inspired the artist for more than thirty years.
