En écho aux aquarelles présentées dans l'exposition 'Diary of Happiness', la Fondation Boghossian invite les enfants à explorer, eux aussi, leur imagination lors d’un atelier créatif à la Villa Empain. Une invitation à poursuivre, à travers la peinture, l’esprit du carnet de voyage qui traverse l’exposition.

SPAIN | One of the rooms in the poetic journey imagined by Jean-Michel Othoniel is dedicated to Spain, a country that has inspired him since childhood.

From summers spent in Andalusia to the rituals of bullfighting, religious processions, poetry, and the unique beauty of imperfection, Spain has deeply shaped his artistic universe. Glass tears, shifting reflections, theatricality, and the spirit of Duende continue to inhabit his works today.

TRIBUTE TO BELGIUM | In Jean-Michel Othoniel’s travel notebooks, Belgium holds a special place. At the Villa Empain, the salons pay tribute to Marcel Broodthaers, Magritte’s surrealism, Jan Hoet met at Documenta 9, Johan Creten and the poetry, wordplay, and Baroque spirit of Flanders.

‘I was still a student when I first went to Belgium, in the 1980s, for a retrospective of Marcel Broodthaers’ films. I remember when I discovered his ‘Jardin d’hiver’ at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.’_Jean-Michel Othoniel
