MICHAEL DE ZUTTER of the DE ZUTTER ART De Zutter Art Gallery is pleased to announce that Tony Cragg is the recipient of the European Culture Prize which recognizes his work as one of Europe's most important contemporary sculptors. In the words of Reiner Schränkler, chairman of the European Culture Forum: "Tony Cragg is one of the most significant sculptors of our time. His works uniquely connect science, nature, material research, and artistic vision. He has profoundly changed international sculpture and inspired generations of artists."
Over the course of an exceptional career spanning several decades, Tony Cragg has shaped the language of contemporary sculpture. Born in the United Kingdom and living and working in Wuppertal, his innovative practice has gained worldwide acclaim and continues to influence artists and audiences across generations. With the establishment of Skulpturenpark Waldfrieden, Cragg has also created one of Europe's foremost centers dedicated to contemporary sculpture.
