We've heard that it's officially a 'Jane Austen autumn' - something we can definitely get on board with here at No.1 Royal Crescent 🍂📚

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a Georgian townhouse in Bath must have a Jane Austen story to tell! Our self-guided immersive Jane Austen tour looks at life in Britain in the 1790s – 1820, (the Regency into Late Georgian period), including when Austen was writing, and for a time living in Bath. Using the rooms of the house as inspiration, passages and conversations from Austen’s novels bring to life the activities that took place in such domestic spaces, as well as questioning the thoughts and feelings of the people who inhabited them.

To celebrate all things Jane Austen, following the annual festival in September and the release of the cinematic adaptation of Sense & Sensibility, we have put together the ultimate package that includes:

Did you know that Sense and Sensibility began as a novel-in-letters, under its original title Elinor and Marianne? We want to thank our brilliant team and volunteers who make this museum come alive with their knowledge and passion. And of course thank our wonderful visitors! ✨

We are looking for a reliable team member with experience of working with the public in a customer facing role and has great customer service skills. Experience of working in museums would be useful but is not essential as full training will be given. Providing cover as required at any of BPT's museums (No.1 Royal Crescent, Herschel Museum of Astronomy and Beckford's Tower).

About the Author 📚

Emily Howes is the award-winning author of The Painter’s Daughters. She has worked as a storyteller, theatre maker, performer, writer and director in stage, television and radio. In addition to writing fiction, Emily has a Masters in Existential Psychotherapy and works as a psychotherapist in private practice. She lives in London with her children.

About Mrs Dickens📙

London, 1836. Nineteen-year-old Kate Hogarth falls in love with the young journalist Charles Dickens.
