An exhibition reimagining birdhouses through design.

“The exhibition Home Sweet Home explores the idea of home with a playful twist. Birdhouses by internationally renowned designers demonstrate how living, care, and beauty come together for both humans and nature. This small but meaningful object is reimagined into creations where material, form and colour reflect the designers identity.”

Some of 2025– it’s been a pleasure to have worked, and crossed paths, with so many wonderful people this year! Looking forward to some great new projects in 2026.

The functional project – a space to explore utilitarian and everyday objects. To bring pleasure, contemplation, and consideration to everyday routines.

The works/collection are inspired by my sculptural practice, taking forms, shapes, space and refining/filtering these ideas into objects that can be used. There are also archival references to my earlier body of work that focused on tableware pieces when I initially set up my studio practice.

For this work/collection the predominant material has been porcelain, with coloured pigment added to the clay body. I have always been drawn to the inherent value and qualities of porcelain as a material. The work is to be playful, useful and exceptionally crafted.

The current collection is now available online and directly from the studio at Portview.

My current exhibition ‘Under Construction’ uses the gallery as a project space to contemplate the dialogue and interaction between my current research project into collage and painting, and its later translation into three-dimensional objects.

The paintings and collages that catalyse new possibilities are exhibited alongside sculptural ceramic forms, documenting my journey into new mediums as a mode of research, but also to be viewed as artistic works in their own right.

‘Under Construction’ runs until October 31st at the
Craft NI Gallery
115-119 Royal Avenue
Belfast

I was delighted to be the recipient of the Rosemary James Award 2024. Over the past few months, this award has enabled me time to focus on new approaches to my practice through the use of multi-media materials such as collage, sketching and painting— working outside clay as a medium to generate free experimentation away from its material and technical limitations allowing me to freely generate new ideas. These, and forthcoming experiments, will be translated back into my ceramic practice. Although I’m only mid-way in this research period, I can already see new creative possibilities arising. Eventually, this research will translate into a new body ceramic and multi-media works.

A special thank you to the trustees of the Rosemary James Award and the
