I was incredibly lucky to work on this wonderful project with EastSide Arts and inspiring artists Ali Fell and Anna O'Kane. Visiting lots of community groups and making starling gelli prints and then embossed copper birds with them, all so unique and I loved learning people's stories and inspirations along the way. The final exhibition is breathtaking and it was lovely seeing how proud all the participants were of their collective creation 🕊️ huge props to Ali, Anna and Tarah for sticking hundreds of birds to the final piece!!! Just such an amazing idea to bring people together and to bring awareness to the beautiful starlings that have thankfully come back to Belfast! 💖

My workshop Shared Ground: Stories in Clay for NI Mental Health Arts Festival in collaboration with Engage With Age 💖

This workshop brought together people and their care givers to work together on personal shields reflecting on belonging, what makes us feel like we belong to our community, family, support group and more. It was so incredible seeing the participants working together and focusing on a project together. Often when we're under pressure things can become transactions, so it's important to create new experiences together and reconnect on a playful and creative level, and it was wonderful to see this happen before my eyes.

Smiles, laughter and stories were shared and I'm grateful that everyone told me what a nice time they had and they enjoyed the session! Art is so powerful in bringing us together and giving us a mindful moment. A huge thank you to MHANI and to Engage with Age for their support, kindness and understanding with this project. I'm so proud to have worked with you both and this amazing group 🙏🏼☺️

✨ Yesterday, we had the absolute pleasure of working with a wonderful group learning English with Refuge Language.

Our workshop focused on a beautiful question: What brings us happiness?

We brought these ideas to life by creating personal clay shields. Everyone started by designing their concepts on paper before getting their hands dirty and recreating them in clay. It was truly beautiful to see all the unique, diverse sources of joy in the room, the creativity was off the charts! ✨

A massive thank you to:
🎨 Tarah with EastSide Arts for connecting us with this lovely group.
🐒 My puppet pal Squiggles & Giggles for being the most fabulous assistant ever and bringing incredible ideas to the workshop!

Days like yesterday remind us just how universal happiness really is. Thank you to everyone who shared their stories and smiles with us!
