We have experienced all weathers in June so far, from heavy rain and thunderstorms to warm glorious sunshine and our Victorian Walled Garden has really benefitted!

The glass houses and vegetable beds are absolutely bursting with growth and life. Our team of gardeners have been busy looking after all the produce, from watering and weeding to tying in and pinching out the tomato plants as they continue to grow.

Featured in the photographs are tomatoes, cucumbers, beetroot, courgettes, leeks, aubergine and beans.

📣 Calling all home educators!

Be part of our special centenary celebrations at our next Home Education Day on Thursday 25 June.

Create a unique print inspired by your favourite object or animal from our collections and contribute to our PCT100 community exhibition. Using a range of printmaking techniques, you'll create one artwork to take home and one to be displayed in our exhibition celebrating community creativity.

Please be prepared for inky fingers – we recommend bringing an apron or overshirt!

Our Home Education Days offer a welcoming and relaxed learning environment where children can learn through making, exploring and asking questions alongside other home-educated learners.

The museum will be closed to the general public and open exclusively to the Home Education group throughout the day.

Sessions run from 10am–2pm
10am–11am is quiet hour for those who would benefit from a calmer museum experience.

Quex Gardens welcomed 10 new hens to the chicken run this week and The Sunshine Project were keen to say hello and start to give them names!

The groups have also been busy planting up pots with annual summer bedding ready to add to our displays. They have been choosing from a selection of Sweet Peas, Zinnias, Marigolds and Antirrhinum.

Summer is here!

Head Gardener Sue and our wonderful volunteer Lesley have spent many hours this week picking strawberries from the strawberry patches in our Victorian walled garden.

This delicious crop will be going to and we cannot wait to see what they make!

Undeterred by another week of unpredictable weather, The Sunshine Project has adapted, changed multiple outfits and turned their hands to an array of gardening tasks to suit the elements!

The team have worked outside continuing to prepare beds for vegetable growing in our walled garden as well as seeking shelter in the glass houses repotting plants for the pot displays.

Our LEGO® Brick Building Weekend is back for Father's Day weekend, 20-21 June - and spaces in each session are limited.

Enjoy a full family day out which includes a guided building session, thousands of LEGO® bricks to play with, speed challenges, stunning brick models to marvel at, and full access to the museum, house and gardens.

With four sessions across both days, you need to book your slot early to guarantee your time.
