Discover historic buses, vintage vehicles, free classic bus rides, a miniature railway, family fun, special events and the passion of our dedicated volunteers at Transport Museum Wythall. We have extensive collections of buses, battery electric vehicles and a miniature steam railway which operates on our special operating days. Our Midland "Red" exhibits are particularly important because the company built its own buses for half a century and was regularly at the leading edge of bus design.

Come and join us on Sunday October 11th and see the car races. Yes it’s time to welcome the Austin J40 Pedal Car Club for their annual race day.

The Austin J40 was produced by the Austin Motor Company at its factory in Bargoed, South Wales, from 1949 to 1971. Built using offcuts from Austin car production, it was a beautifully engineered pedal car, complete with working lights, horn and opening features. Its distinctive design made it a much-loved British childhood classic.

Designed to resemble the Austin A40 Devon, it featured working headlights, a horn, handbrake, chrome trim and opening bonnet and boot. Production ended in 1971, with 32,098 J40s built. Today, these desirable collectors’ items remain cherished by children of all ages.
