A new exhibition has opened at Bridport Museum: Short Ends

Thank you to artist Carrie Mason and everyone who joined us yesterday evening for the opening.

Developed during her residency at Bridport Museum, the exhibition draws on Carrie’s research into the Sanctuary Rope & Net Collection. Through close study of the materials held in the museum stores, she has created a new body of sculptural work using rope and twine.

Short Ends is now open to the public and runs until 16 July. Admission is included with museum entry.

Help shape the future of Bridport Museum and win £50 cash!

Take part in the online survey and you can enter a prize draw to win £50 cash! Bridport Museum is inviting local people, visitors and community groups to take part in a new audience consultation during April. The museum wants to hear from both current visitors and people who don’t currently use the museum, to help shape future plans and understand what kinds of activities, stories and spaces people value most. The consultation will include a public survey and creative activities in Bridport inspired by the town’s heritage.

The attached photograph shows an event that we suspect happened before 1929 as it happened before the Pier Terrace fire. We also observe what we suspect is an American flag flying outside Querida. We know there was a scout rally in West Bay in July 1927, and we see what we think are some scout hats in the crowd.

Any ideas or information on this photograph, fellow Bridporters?
