This helps me, maybe it can help you too:
For some people with ADHD, the mind can feel like it’s filled with bubbles of air — constantly appearing, floating around and needing something to fill them.
Everyone has thoughts and ideas that come and go, but an ADHD brain can sometimes seem to create far more bubbles than there are hands to catch them. Some are empty, some are filled with silly or random thoughts, some with worries, and some with genuinely brilliant ideas.
And that’s part of the frustrating thing. A brilliant idea can appear in one of those bubbles, full of possibility, but before you can hold onto it, another bubble comes along and another and another. The brilliant one gets mixed in with everything else, and sometimes you can’t quite catch it again.
It isn’t necessarily that the idea wasn’t important, or that you didn’t want to do something with it. Sometimes your brain simply made it difficult to hold onto, organise and turn that thought into action.
It can be tiring. It can be frustrating. It can be chaotic.
But it can also be wonderful — because amongst all those silly, random and unexpected bubbles, there can be some incredibly creative, original and brilliant ones too.
It’s tiring and frustrating, and also kind of wonderful, being neurodivergent.
