What would it be like to go to the loo in space? How would you clean your teeth or get rid of your rubbish?👩‍🚀

Last year, over 23,000 school children from across the South-West came for a space adventure with us.

They learned about the wonders of space flight, about human ingenuity and our place in the Solar System.

1,500 children who did our Destination Space workshop also learned how to take a spacewalk and catch a floating poo.

We’re looking forward to another year of inspiring a love of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) through the wonders and possibilities of space, and everything they can teach us about life here on Earth.

✨ Love meeting new people? Fancy working for an educational charity? ✨

We’re looking for some brilliant new faces to join our Visitor Experience Team!

As the first friendly face our visitors see, you'll be welcoming everyone in, co-ordinating school arrivals, selling tickets and memberships, working in the shop and providing all-round excellent customer service.

Based in our foyer and shop, no two days are quite the same, and you'll play a key role in helping every visitor have a fantastic experience.

We welcome applications from people of all lived experiences and particularly those that aren’t well represented in the science centre sector.

Sound like your kind of thing? Or know someone who'd be perfect? Please do share!

What's inside that giant silver ball?

Well this autumn, it's some rather glorious evening shows all about the secrets of the universe. And whether you've just arrived in Bristol or lived here for years, we reckon a visit to this silver ball - Bristol's planetarium with 360 degree views of space- should be on your list.

Choose between two shows presented live by our team - see 'The Story of Stars' unfolding in the winter sky or for a bit more in depth science, 'Light from Afar' explores distant stars, nebulae and galaxies, thanks to some very large telescopes.

Tickets: £16.50 / £12.50 open concession including students.

“We’re the first working generation to properly understand the threat of the climate change, and the last working generation who can take action to prevent the worst of it.”

A challenging but galvanising quote from Chris Dunford (Sustainability and Science Director at We The Curious) to frame and kick off the brilliant keynote speech and panel discussion for our ‘Futures Series: Sustainability’ event here last night.

As a science centre with a grounded focus on the critical decarbonisation and adaptation that is needed in the climate emergency, our aim was to bring together organisations, communities, researchers and policy makers to share ideas, build partnerships and inspire action towards sustainable change, for a more hopeful future.

And hopefully, we did just that.

Held in spaces across our exhibition floor (so yes, playing with the exhibits and taking part in our staff-led activities was actively encouraged!), the event felt full, buzzy and energising - with some incredible conversations and connections being made.

A huge thank you to our brilliant speakers and panellists for such stimulating and thought-provoking words, and to everyone who came and brought their energy to the discussion.

Play Fridays are back this autumn starting this Friday with 'On a Roll'!

Each month outside of the school holidays, our Theatre of Curiosity space comes alive with a different mini-adventure for the under 5s.

This week, it’s time to twist, turn, spin with our theme ‘On a roll’, when spinning tops and rolling toys help our littlest visitors develop coordination, spatial awareness and an understanding of cause and effect.

Play Friday runs from 10am-12pm, but your ticket lasts all day - so you can pop out for snacks and enjoy the new Bluey mural on Millennium Square.

If it's a hit, you can upgrade to our new off-peak membership for a whole year's worth of fun.

Autumn might mean rainy days but it also means the return of our starry Planetarium Nights!

Grab your pals and head down to the giant silver ball on Millennium Square to enjoy an evening hour-long planetarium show. You’ll travel through space and time to discover the wonders of our universe in the UK’s only 3D planetarium. 🪐

Catch our seasonal stargazing show The Story of Stars and witness the majestic life-cycle of star, or discover how we use light to measure the scale of the cosmos in our new show ‘Light from Afar’.

Before the show, grab a drink from the bar and enjoy the exhibits in the Space Gallery. 👩‍🚀

Great Scott! Something electrifying is landing at We The Curious tomorrow… ⚡

If you’re visiting us on Friday morning keep an eye out for two time travelling pals roaming the venue… Pop by and say hi, as they figure out just how curious Bristol is.

And when you’re passing Millennium Square you might also notice one stylish vehicle that has travelled back to the future and landed on our Square. 👀
