This means a discount of £1.50 on a family of four ticket (usual charge £12.50) and 30p on an individual child’s ticket (usual charge £2.50).

While you're visiting why not do one of our themed walking trails around !
The 'Dickens Town Trail', written by our very own volunteer and local historian Ken Nickoll, is available from the museum admissions desk. The new 'In Broadstairs with Dickens' is a smartphone based app, produced by Gazooky Studios for the Canterbury Christ Church University led and The National Lottery Heritage Fund sponsored 'Let's' do the Time Walk Again' project, which we're a partner of. You can get onto this trail by scanning a QR code here at the museum and also at other venues in the town including Bleak House.

It's the second week of June which can only mean one thing in - its festival time! The town's has been held annually since 1937 and this year's no different on the 12th-14th (Friday-Sunday). As ever will be taking part, with our wonderful volunteers and The Broadstairs Dickens Declaimers taking center stage - keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram throughout the week for more details!

As for this picture, we think its from the early 1960s, its Dickens House before it became a museum. However, the house was often open to the public even then, our earliest guide book dates back to the 1930s! And just look at those costumes 😍

Normal admission charges apply to the museum, there is no additional charge for the performances. Wider festival details can be found here https://www.broadstairsdickensfestival.co.uk/events

Its and we're celebrating our marvellous Dickens House Museum volunteers! We really wouldn't have the museum we have without them. Whether it's greeting visitors, giving talks, helping with school visits, cataloguing and caring for our collections we really couldn't do the things we do without them!

If you'd like to join the team drop us an email at [email protected] and we'll send you volunteer role descriptions and an application form. Volunteering sessions normally last around 3 hours; some of our volunteers come twice a week, others once a fortnight - it's completely up to you, but we can guarantee a warm welcome and lots of tea!

PS Dressing up as a Victorian is optional!
