The brass is polished, our brilliant volunteers are primed and ready to go, and so another season at Dickens House Museum begins on Wednesday!

We’re also very pleased to be launching our new logo, which takes its inspiration from our balcony railings, also echoed on the interpretation in our new ‘Dickens in Broadstairs’ exhibition. And our new brand colours, inspired by the house, such as lavender blue from the garden, are also appearing on our new leaflets.
There’s always a new story waiting behind every door at Dickens House Museum!

We’re now closed for the winter and reopen on Wednesday 1st April 2026, but what a wonderful year we’ve had! Thousands of happy visitors, the support of our wonderful volunteers, who have given over 1,200 hours of their time, and the support of all our friends including The Broadstairs Dickens Fellowship, the Dickens Declaimers and Broadstairs & St. Peter's Town Council.

Even though the door is closed the work still goes on! Our volunteers are cataloging the collection as part of the ‘Let’s do the time walk again’ with Canterbury Christ Church University and The National Lottery Heritage Fund, while we’re also working on new displays for 2026. We’re also pleased to be hosting the Kent Finds Liaison Officer’s surgery’s as part of the British Museum’s Portable Antiquities Scheme. So stay tuned to find out what we’re doing over the next few months while we’re closed.

Finally, we’d like to wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas, to borrow the last sentence of a certain book, ‘And so, as Tiny Tim observed, god bless us, everyone!’
