Open Call 2027 - Albany Gallery invites artists to submit work for our People’s Choice Exhibition 2027.
Artists working across the mediums of painting, ceramics and sculpture are encouraged to apply. New or previously produced work can be accepted.
This call is open to
Local or national artists over the age of 18 and not currently exhibiting in the Albany Gallery.
Submission requirements
Artist statement
1-3 images of recent work
Image list with titles, dimensions, medium and price
Website and/or social media links (optional)
Important Dates
Submission Deadline - 15 Nov 2026
Notification of Results - 01 Dec 2026
Delivery of artwork - 10 Jan 2027. Paintings must be strung and ready to hang
People’s Choice Exhibition - 15 Jan to 6 Feb 2027
Late submissions will not be considered.
Selection process
Applications will be reviewed by the gallery curators and a small selected jury.
The winning artist will receive: £100 and offered to exhibit as the featured artist in the Summer show 2027

Nick Pritchard is a landscape artist based in South Wales. He draws his inspiration from the rugged beauty and character of the landscape around him, particularly the mountains around Blaenavon, with its stunning views of the Black Mountains and the intriguing scars of its industrial past.

Nick’s work captures the ever-changing rhythms of the Welsh landscape, from the impressive peaks of the mountains to the serene flow of rivers, the quiet majesty of fields and trees, and the dramatic sweep of the coastline.

Predominantly working in acrylics using palette knives and brushes, Nick works in an instinctive and expressive manner, allowing for an element of unpredictability and ambiguity, which he develops into a recognisable representation of the landscape. Through this process he explores the impact of the changing seasons and the shifting nature of co
lour, light, and texture, seeking to evoke the energy and essence of the landscape in constant flux.

Water, particularly local rivers, canals, and brooks close to where he lives, is another key theme in his work. Drawn to the movement of the water, light and reflections on its surface, he enjoys the challenge of conveying its transient qualities in paint.

Nick’s Solo Show is exhibited until 27 June.
