We’re getting ready to welcome the lovely Broken Heart Bazaar back to Sun Pier House this Saturday! Twice a year, we get to host Medway’s original alternative market, and it’s always such a treat to see the building filled with so many brilliant traders.

With more than 40 talented makers across all three floors, there’s loads to have a look at. From handmade goodies to unusual finds and all sorts of lovely things you didn’t know you needed, there really is something for everyone! We love how carefully the market is put together, and it’s a brilliant chance to discover something a bit different.

Even better, the market raises money for the British Heart Foundation so you can have a good old browse, support some brilliant independent makers and help a great cause at the same time. What’s not to love?

Pop in and see us this Saturday!

💛Our café is open 10am–4pm, so you can grab a cuppa, cake or a bite to eat while you’re here.

Up on the second floor is our beautiful cafe and gallery, serving the best views in Chatham PLUS coffee from £2.50 or a cup of tea for £2. Enjoy a tasty slice of cake or freshly made sandwiches and soups. Open Thursday - Saturday 10am - 4pm. But shhhhhh…. Don’t tell anyone 😉

Our Art Bank is having a little makeover!

Since launching back in 2023, it’s had a few different homes and a few different looks, but we think it’s finally found its forever home. A fresh lick of paint and some lovely new labels are on the way, and we’re hoping to turn it into a bright, colourful home for all the brilliant art materials that get donated to us.

We’ve got some lovely ideas for what comes next, too! With Emma’s help, we’re hoping to introduce little takeaway crafting bags, surprise bags and regular creative ideas inspired by whatever has been donated that week. So, whether you fancy trying something new or just need a little inspiration, there’ll hopefully be plenty to get you started.

We’re always on the lookout for donations, particularly watercolour paints, unwanted canvases and sketchbooks. If you’ve got art materials gathering dust at home, we’d love to give them a new lease of life!

But we want to hear from you, too! 💬

What would you love to see in our Art Bank? Would you be tempted by a surprise crafting bag? What materials do you always wish you had to hand? Or is there a particular craft you’d love us to share some ideas for?

🌟 Meet Emma! 🌟

You might have noticed a new face around Sun Pier House! We’re so happy to have Emma join us for a year-long placement.

"Hi there! My name is Emma and I have just joined the Sun Pier House team as a part of a university placement at Kingston School of Art, where I study illustration and animation. I am so excited to help out behind the scenes and get involved on fun new projects. I love to draw and paint and watch the swans outside as they float on the river.

Last week I’ve been assisting Libbie with Rochester Riverside School’s week of art workshops in the Creation Space, and I’ve had a blast watching the kids make their mini masterpieces! I’ve just started my first project here – helping to reimagine the art bank, which is a space to donate unwanted art supplies and give them a new life, and you can check this out on the second floor!

Being at Sun Pier House has been amazing so far and I have been loving getting to know everyone! I can’t wait to see what this year has in store."

We’re delighted to have Emma with us and can’t wait to see all the creativity she brings to Sun Pier House. Welcome, Emma!

It is the final week to visit Sun Pier House to see the Ann Welch Retrospective - Spirit of Place Exhibition. Presented by Spirit Arts in the Riverside Gallery.

Once a month, we stay open a little later on a Thursday for Gallery Lates.

It’s a chance to take your time, enjoy the café and gallery into the evening, and make the most of the view across the River Medway as the sun goes down.

Our current exhibition is Spirit of Place – An Artistic Odyssey by the late Ann Welch, and you’re very welcome to settle in and spend some time with the work.

You can even order a takeaway from our wonderful friends at Poco Loco or Selale Restaurant and enjoy it here with a drink from the bar. We really don’t mind.

This Thursday, we’re also joined by Electric Medway for their Createch meet-up, alongside a very cool experimental music session from Minimus and a fully booked watercolour workshop in our creation space.

So, if you fancy making an evening of it, come and see us this Thursday till 8pm
