Now on at MedwayArtBox: “My Sun Pier House” - 2026 Resident Show

In March 2026 Sun Pier House relaunched its Gallery to the public with a resident artist exhibition, but this time there was a twist!

Armed with disposable cameras, residents documented their daily life at Sun Pier House, their creative process, studio spaces, unfinished ideas, moments of connection, quiet routines, community workshops, and the view from their chair.

These black and white photographs in the exhibition sat alongside current artworks from each participating artist, plus a short personal statement about what their studio means to them. Together, these works created a portrait of our building and the people who bring it to life, sharing the everyday lives of artists at Sun Pier House.

Displayed here in MedwayArtBox this month are those photos taken by Sun Pier artists, on display until the 26 May 2026

We’re ready for Rochester Sweeps Festival 🙌 💙 🕊️ 🖼️

We’ll be open 24/7 from 1 - 4 May for artists to gift work and art lovers to select a piece for the price of a shout out on social media.

How to get involved:
Drop your work off at MedwayArtBox anytime from 1 - 4 May (there’ll be hangy things to hang it up with) Remember to put your name and social media handles on the piece so the lucky new owner can find you to say thank you and share it on social media.

And don’t forget to take a photo of your work in the box (if you’re in it then even better) and tag/mention us so we can share it too.

Lastly please share this post with your lovely arty friends. Let’s make this year the best one yet!

This weekend (1 - 4 May) 50,000 people will descend on Rochester for Medway Sweeps Festival and, as usual, we’ll be filling MedwayArtBox with art….
.and that’s where we need your help, please. We’ll be open 24/7 during the festival for artists to gift work and for art lovers to take a piece and shout about it on social media.

How to get involved:

Our sunny String Thing installation has come to an end, making way for new artists to takeover the box.

HELLO! 💛🧡 we haven’t shown our faces on here for a while so here we are Vanessa Cube and I printed that, the duo who run MedwayArtBox, with the support of Nucleus Arts. We had a couple of empty weeks in the box so came up with something VERY loosely based on Chiharu Shiota‘s incredible installations. We can’t decide on a title for it though. It’s been affectionately referred to as the String Thing during its concept and creation, and it’s kinda stuck 💛🧡

Come see it while the sun is still shining 🌞 On until Tues 14 April.

You’ll find us on Rochester High Street in the red phone box that sits snugly between the Guildhall Museum and Café Nucleus. We’re proud to be a Nucleus Arts gallery.

We came in this morning to add more seeds and take some photos to share with you and it was almost like last week’s installation had never happened. It was fine over the weekend and totally bare today! I can only imagine where someone has it displayed in their house 🤔 any ideas?

Sorry if you’ve been down in the meantime to swap seeds and we’re disappointed.

We’ve added all the packets we have at the moment, so you can still swap your seeds out, it’s just a bit boring and sparse now. Sorry 😢

The SEED SWAP is open 24/7 until 10th February. Leave a packet, take a packet 🌱
