Thanks so much to everyone who came to the launch event for ‘Beneath Open Skies’ - It was great to see you all and chat about all of the beautiful work on display. It’s always such a pleasure to see the gallery full of life and excitement after a week or so toiling away in solitude. I will get some installation shots up later this week. I’m a bit behind schedule as I’ve been unwell for the last week so please be patient whilst I get all of the work uploaded to the website as I’m still not 100%. Tbh it was touch and go as to whether I would get it ready in time but thanks to my wonderful partner and my amazingly supportive dad we got it done. My dad even sold a couple of pieces on Sunday whilst I was recovering in bed 🙌🙏❤️

I had a visit from the very lovely and extremely talented yesterday who was kind enough to take a few pics of me and yes I’m wearing my favourite orange jumper again! Joy was dropping off work for the upcoming ‘Beneath Open Skies’ exhibition which will launch on the 25th April! Anyway this is me and if you want to see more of the orange jumper you have about a 80-90% chance of seeing it in person if you pop along to the gallery anytime we are open. (Thursday- Sunday 10-5pm) There’s also some artwork but that’s just a bonus 😁

A quick reminder that the current ‘Refresh 26’ exhibition will be closing in a little over a week on the 5th April. This is ‘Falckenstein Straße’ 1 of 3 paintings by in this 14 person group show. At only 15x15cm it is truly incredible how much detail and atmosphere Ryan manages to pack into such a small amount of real estate! Full catalogue can be found on our website.

JFK Turner concerns himself with the unnoticed ephemeral elements of everyday life. He studies found objects, marks, stains and the natural effects of time; things he finds and notices when out and about. His paintings are not abstract but based on something from the real world; from a screwed up piece of paper to a flap in a cardboard box, remnants of life.

An object taken out of its context and presented as a two dimensional form becomes ambiguous and works as a trigger for the imagination.

Untitled #11

Tarpey Gallery is delighted to present Beneath Open Skies, a group exhibition bringing together fourteen artists working across painting, printmaking, sculpture and ceramics.

The exhibition looks at how artists respond to the natural world, from expressive interpretations of place to more abstract responses to light, texture and environment. The works on display offer a wide range of perspectives, styles and approaches.

Beneath Open Skies brings together distinct voices while highlighting the connections that emerge between materials, ideas and the landscapes that inspire them.

It was a really lovely weekend at the gallery with a lot of new visitors, a few sales and loads of beautiful compliments about the gallery and work. Louisa Boyd’s wonderful etchings were singled out for praise more than once and it’s easy to see why! This is Navigation 18 and is one of eight of Louisa’s pieces in the current group exhibition ‘Refresh 26’
