We're busy setting up for tomorrow's exhibition of Keith's stunning work. There are plenty of pieces available to buy and the man himself is here to chat and sign his work.

HALF TERM APPROACHES!
Half term in our neck of the woods is from 26th October and we have plenty for the whole family to enjoy.

Tuesday, 27th - Props Day, where our propellor driven aircraft will be fired up in two sessions – morning and afternoon. Normal Admissions day.

Wednesday, 28th - Fly Festival Workshop – Amy Johnson Day. A busy engaging session for children 5yrs+, to find out about Amy Johnson becoming the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia. They can construct their own models of the De Havilland Gipsy Moth she flew halfway across the world! There is a seperate charge for this event.

Thursday, 29th - Families can get hands-on with some of our smaller exhibits, with sessions in the main hangar run by our Schools Team.

SMALL, FAR AWAY...
The shop has just taken delivery of Revell 's new rendering of our very own Friday the 13th in 1:72nd scale. Judging by the box art alone, it's a beautiful kit and a great memento to take away with you and build at home. Sadly we don't have an online shop but we do think it's a great addition to the shop (which you can visit without coming into the Museum btw). £34.99.

NATIONAL CADETS WEEK...
This week is National Cadets Week, promoting cadet forces across the country.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, it brings together five Cadet Forces: the Sea Cadet Corps, Volunteer Cadet Corps, Army Cadet Force, Air Training Corps and the Combined Cadet Force.
Together they support 137,000 cadets and 28,000 adult volunteers across the UK.
Here at Yorkshire Air Museum, we have regular visits from Cadet groups and they take part in events such as our Allied Air Forces Day - pictured here. (Images by David Harrison). We also have cadet leaders among our volunteers.

OPEN COCKPITS FOR KIDS UPDATE - HAWK!
Our newest acquisition - a Hawk T1 trainer - is fully prepped to take part in Open Cockpits for Kids next Sunday - 11th October. This is an awesome addition to the aircraft already taking part, which will include the Harrier, Tornado, Buccaneer and Tucano. Note - the Nimrod is not taking part in this event.

FIRST AIDERS ASSEMBLE...
Thanks to Cora from First on Scene Training for a great day of first aid refresher training. Our staff are now up to speed on the latest developments in administering first aid, though we hope they never have to use it!

EMERGENCY SERVICES DAY 2026
Our annual Emergency Services Day was a huge success - around 1100 visitors through the gates! Thanks to everyone who took part and came along.

KIDS' OPEN COCKPIT DAY OCTOBER 11th
Another cracking event coming up in our calendar - Open Cockpits for Kids. A selection of our aircraft (we're aiming at ten) open for access for our younger visitors.
NOTE:This will include our new RAF Hawk T1 trainer!
The event needs a supplementary £10 purchase of a wristband (on top of Admissions), which gives access to all the aircraft.
To answer questions from previous events - no, they don't fly but you do get access to all the aircraft on the one wristband!
