✨ Introducing Ben Lucas to Echo Beach Gallery ✨

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Ben Lucas to the gallery.

Ben is local to us here in North Devon, and we are especially proud that he has chosen Echo Beach Gallery as his first North Devon gallery to show and represent his work.

Ben’s paintings are full of atmosphere, movement and light - ocean-inspired, emotional and quietly powerful, without being tied to one specific place.

This is Sweeping Through, a striking original oil painting and a beautiful introduction to Ben’s work. With its sweeping sky, turquoise sea and sense of shifting energy, it is full of light, movement and the atmosphere of the ocean.

We are very excited to have Ben with us, and his paintings are going to be a wonderful addition to the gallery. We know you’re going to love his work too.

Nature put on its own gallery show over the Bristol Channel ⚡

Last night’s lightning storm rolled on for nearly two hours, lighting up the sky across the water.

We watched it dance from Ilfracombe, while Richard captured this strike towards the Welsh coastline at around 10.20pm.

Just a little bit of North Devon drama too good not to share.

Bank Holiday Monday, sunshine… and I still couldn’t resist popping into the gallery on my day off! ☀️

We’re normally closed on Mondays, but I wanted to share this beautiful painting by Mike Bernard RI, and say hello to a few lovely visitors before they head home later today.

After sharing Foreshore, South Devon, a couple of days ago, Batson, nr Salcombe, feels like the perfect pairing.

Full of Mike’s wonderful mixed media detail - boats, colour, texture and that unmistakable Devon coastal charm.

We’ve been a little quiet on here lately… but for a good reason! 🎨

Lots of beautiful new artworks have been arriving at the gallery, so social media has been slightly neglected while we’ve been busy unpacking, hanging, photographing and updating the website.

This is one of the latest pieces to land, ‘Foreshore, South Devon’ by Mike Bernard RI.

Mike is an award-winning artist and a true master of collage and mixed media painting. His work is full of texture, movement and coastal character, the kind of painting you can keep looking at and still spot something new.

A lovely late afternoon buzz in Ilfracombe today for Art Trail weekend 🎨☀️

The sun is still shining, the harbour is looking beautiful, and the town has been busy with visitors enjoying art, studios and creative spaces.

✨ New arrival: Mermaid Pool by Fiona Cant ✨

Delivered to the gallery over the Bank Holiday weekend, while Fiona and her husband enjoyed a few days in North Devon - they even managed to hike up Big Hangman! 🥾🌿

Inspired by a natural rock pool at Porthtowan, known locally as the Mermaid Pool, this beautiful painting captures the colour, movement, and magic of a much-loved coastal place. 🧜‍♀️🌊

Some paintings stay with the artist. 🎨

This was one of Dale Bowen’s personal favourites.
He loved ‘Fisherman’s Cott’ so much, he later painted a similar piece for himself.

Part of the Salt & Stone Collection, it’s a piece full of quiet character.

The weathered walls, the stillness, the suggestion of the sea just beyond… 🌊
It’s a place you can almost step into.
