We were delighted to receive this fabulous Corgi model of a Paisley & District Omnibus Co. Ltd. double decker bus as part of a larger donation kindly gifted to the museum byRichard Vassie

The beautifully detailed model advertises Clark’s Anchor Crochet Cotton, a famous Paisley made product from J & J Clark

This particular model is a Corgi “Public Transport” die-cast replica of a Guy Arab double decker bus, a type commonly seen on British roads during the 1940s and 1950s. The Paisley & District Omnibus Company served the local community for many decades before becoming part of Western SMT in the 1960s.

The bus has now reached its final stop and taken pride of place in our Childhood Cabinet.

Love local history? Enjoy meeting people? We’re looking for new volunteers to help us share the fascinating story of Renfrewshire’s world-famous thread industry.

We’re open every Wednesday and Saturday from 12pm to 4pm, volunteers duties include :
✅ Giving tours of the museum
✅ Cataloguing and recording artifacts.
✅ Caring for the museum’s collection
✅ Giving talks at care homes and schools

It’s a brilliant way to meet new people, learn new skills, and help preserve our local heritage.

Our lovely museum is open today been 1200-1600. Our friendly volunteers are on duty to provide free guided tours. Why not pop in for. Wee blether and a tour. Last entry time for tours is 3.30.

The second Image is of some gentlemen sitting on packing cases, marked with the words "Highland Brigade, South Africa".
The writing at the side of the image reads, "For our heroes in South Africa."
The picture is not dated, but might relate to this newspaper article from February, 1900.

Sharing for our friends at Renfrewshire Tapestry

Very pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition at The Art Department, Paisley opening on the 5th of June. It’s our first major exhibition with several newly finished panels on display for the first time.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone there!

From Russia with Love

In 1890, the foundation stone of the Nevsky Mills, St Petersburg Russia was laid by William Scott.

In our collection we have the presentation trowel and mallet which is inscribed and dated 1890 along with a beautiful photograph mount of William.

The photograph which was printed in Tsarskoye Selo, the residence of the Russian royal family. The studio proudly held the title of Photographer to His Imperial Highness Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich, marking it as one of the most prestigious of its time.

These beautiful items are currently on display at our museum. Alongside these items, we also have two small chairs which are Russian made were brought back to Scotland when J & P Coats staff had to flee Russia at the onset of the Russian Revolution.
