Down to Sennen for the sunset last night and a swim among the waves with the water camera.

Folk stayed late on the beach as the heat failed to dissipate. BBQ smoke vied for aerial supremacy with a pervasive haze as the sun sank lower into the horizon cloud layer.

I exited the water much warmer than I went in. Although this was probably more to do with the workout of trying to get into the right position on the waves in the rippy shorebreak than the continental heat alone.

Great fun and a few keepers for the next Waves calendar, I am already itching to get out to the beach again . But that itch might also just be the plentiful sand inside my wetsuit!

Just getting my head around this idea for cleaning up our seas and waterways. What do you think?

Spent a brilliant couple of days on Scilly last week shooting some pictures for an upcoming article, of which more later. Took the Helicopter over in brilliant sunshine and had a window seat to click away at my home town as we flew over, fantastic!

Can you see your house?

Then I noticed that strange spiral in the bottom of the first picture, just off the Jubilee Pool and Penzance Harbour. No idea what it is but it looks like some kind of sand storm whirlpool. No boats or jet skis nearby to cause such an effect while turning though. Strange.

Anyone else know what's going on there? A sewage outlet? Maybe Surfers Against Sewage might know. Grabbed another couple of shots but it was too rough to see anything on the return trip.

Strange? Or merely unexplained? Do tell.

Weather update for the Newquay market this weekend .....

Due some high winds from Storm Dave, the Saturday market in Newquay will now run on the Sunday (5th ) instead.

Looks like a great weather forecast for Sunday and there will be a huge variety of excellent arts & craft stalls plus loads for the kids to do as well.

See you there and Happy Easter!

Do you find that juggling an ever increasing amount of projects seems to be the general pastime of being an adult these days? If they’re all good projects though, then it’s not a heavy workload. For instance one of my current projects is to go surfing three times a week (rather than the once a month I’ve previously achieved). Another project is to make a whole load of new pictures to display on my upcoming market stalls. I’ll be at the Big Newquay Market this Saturday 4th April then on Weds 8th April and then over to for 20/21/22 April and 27/28/29 April

Looking forward to seeing you at one of these excellent venues but message me if you have any questions!

It's not really made it to the top of the slew of recent negative news but there has been a less than subtle shift in the jet stream, causing the global weather patterns to create storms in parts of the oceans where storms are not normally created.

Waves from new directions means that previously unseen surf breaks appear and mountainous breakers start hitting previously un-storm-photographed stretches of coastline. So far, so good for this storm chasing surf photographer.

But less good for the undefended coastlines of small Mediterranean islands like Malta and even large Pacific islands like the Hawaiian chain, which has been battered by a rare Kona Storm for over a week now.

Whether you see this activity as a message from the Gods or put it down to global warming, the upshot is that there are more opportunities for surfing and photographing waves. Silver linings, eh?

Come down to the Penzance Market this Saturday 21st March at St John's Hall and have a browse through some new seascape photos on my stall, which will be alongside a great mix of local arts, crafts and delicious foods.

Open 10am - 4pm, see you there!
