We had a truly amazing evening last week with Sweet Soul 7 - a big thanks if you came to join us on Wednesday, and especially if you danced the night away.

Well done Sharon - you're a superstar. A huge thanks to Sharon for leading a lovely day of 'guess the mystery object' activities at Pickering Library yesterday - it was so much fun. We're feeling very excited - it's beautiful weather, the museum is looking fabulous and we can't wait for Wednesday night! Have you got your ticket yet for Sweet Soul 7 on 27th May.

This six piece band - with brass, guitar and vocals - play Motown and Northern Soul with gusto. Tickets are available now, at £10 each. You can get them from Television House (cash only) or from the museum reception (card or cash) during opening hours.

These lovely, relaxed performances in our courtyard are always very special for our many regular attendees too! Hope to see you there!

Have you seen the new sign at the museum yet? We think it looks lovely... has it tempted you inside to see us yet this season? The new sign is all about sharing the brilliant news that we're now a Visitor Information Point for the North York Moors National Park - we absolutely love this very special region, and we'll do our best to answer your questions too!

Did you get caught in the downpour today? Pickering has a long history of coping with rain - much of it captured by our very own photographer Sydney Smith. Sydney ran the photography studio in town, along with support from his wife, Maud and daughter, Barbara. He photographed some very significant moments in the town's story during the first half of the twentieth century.

A real highlight of our summer each year is the very special 'Music at the Museum' series of concerts. We were admiring the lovely lawn outside the museum recently and wondering which lawnmowing fairy had completed this task, when along came Chris - he'd just been putting the mower away - just in time for some compliments.

What are your plans for the Bank Holiday weekend? We're getting excited, because next Monday we'll be running the first of our brilliant craft days of the season! Hope you can make it - there'll be so much happening all across the museum.
