Kate Shephard Art

Kate Shephard Art Kate Shephard - Dorset artist. I create expressive, faith-inspired art, from vibrant abstracts to peaceful watercolours and Bible verse prints.

My pieces bring peace, joy, and soul into the home, offering beauty & heartfelt encouragement and inspiration. I live in Poole in Dorset in the UK and have been painting on and off since I was at school over 30 years ago. I opened my shop in 2013 - put up one item and then family life got the better of me as the kids were still 2 and 4 at that point. In the last few months I have started painting

again and creating all sorts of bits and pieces so I thought I would re-open my shop again! A lot of my creations/paintings are largely inspired or sourced from the beautiful area that I live in but I take inspiration from lots of different areas of my life. I am lucky to live by the sea and love painting coastlines, sunsets etc. I particularly love using lots of colour and life and love striking scenery and subject matter. Colour makes me happy! :)
My crafty creations make lovely bespoke gifts for loved ones, family or friends and are great as occasion gifts for weddings, mothers day, valentines day, Christmas. Follow me on twitter : OR

Start the day with sunshine on your walls. ☀️
'In the Quiet Light' was painted for those mornings when everything feels possible — golden, hopeful and quietly alive with energy. The kind of feeling you want to wake up to every single day.
Perfect above a breakfast bar or anywhere you start your morning. Because how your day begins matters. 🌸

Ever Wonder What Size Print to Get? 🌿
I get asked this question all the time, so I thought I'd show you what a difference size makes using my painting "Whispers of Midwinter" in the same spot.
Here's what I've learned from seeing my work in people's homes — size really does change everything.
A smaller print is lovely and subtle. It adds a gentle touch of colour without demanding attention - it's great in a little nook or as part of a gallery wall.
But when you go bigger, the whole room shifts. The colours have space to breathe. The art becomes a presence rather than an accent. It anchors the space and creates that "finished" feeling you're after.
If you're decorating above a sofa, bed, or console table, a larger print usually works better than you'd think. It fills the space naturally and lets the colours really glow.
My advice? If you're torn between two sizes, go for the bigger one. Let the art take up space. Let it do what it's meant to do — bring calm, beauty, and a sense of completeness to your room.
What size do you usually go for? I'd love to know 💛

Two paintings. One coastline. The full story of the Dorset sea. 🌊
This is 'Coastal Calm' — my set of 2 prints bringing together 'Beyond The Shore' and 'Bramble Bush Bay Shores', and I'm really happy with how they look together :)
'Bramble Bush Bay Shores' is all about stillness — soft sandy creams, duck egg blues, the feeling of standing at the water's edge when the sea is so so calm. 'Beyond The Shore' brings a little more energy — pale blues and teal sweeping across the composition with the wave building in the distance, inspired by the happy, unhurried days I spent at Hengistbury Head when the kids were little.
Together they tell the whole story of the coast. The calm and the movement. The stillness and the energy. Everything I love about the sea in two beautiful pieces.
Available framed or unframed, in a range of sizes — link in bio or here : https://f.mtr.cool/gmoouquhle if the coast is calling your name. 🤍

Three things on the go at once in the studio right now — because apparently one painting at a time just isn't enough! 😄
Still very much works in progress but I wanted to share where things are at. More updates to come as these develop. 🎨

There’s something I absolutely love about these tiny studio moments — the painty hands, the quiet focus, the colours slowly taking shape… all the little bits that don’t always make it into the final photo.

This is the real Artist Life for me.
The mess, the calm, the “oh wow, this might actually work”, the coffee breaks, the figuring-it-out-as-I-go. It’s never perfect, but it’s always honest — and it’s where the heart of my work truly lives.

Sharing these snippets feels a bit like opening the studio door and letting you wander in for a moment… to see the joy, the graft, and everything in between.

Thanks for being here for the whole journey — not just the finished pieces.
Which part of the creative process do you love seeing most? 💛✨

What was my inspiration for this? The most extraordinary sea I've ever seen. 🌊🌴
Those colours in the Dominican Republic were something else. Everything felt more vivid, more alive — like life had been turned up to full brightness.
So I did what I always do. I went into the studio and let it pour out.
'Caribbean Blue' — that feeling, bottled and ready for your walls.
