Well done to everyone who replied to our Saltash Remembered Past-Puzzle post this week. The answer is Shops on Callington Road near the Fire Station. There were some super answers, including great suggestions that could be used as clues. Thanks to all who had a go, most people got it right, including those suggesting Jimmy Downs who ran the newsagent shop before Mr. Westaway took it over. The shop still sells some news items today and the shop next door remains a chemist.

Clue 1: C.E. Underhill (Chemist)
Clue 2: G. Coffin (Greengrocer)
Clue 3: W.M. Snell (Grocer)
Clue 4: C.N.P. Westaway (Newsagent)

There will be another Past-Puzzle soon.

The Saltash Remembered Past-Puzzle is back and here's your latest chance to solve it this week.

Remember: Some weeks' puzzles will be easier than others, we aim to provide something for everyone.

So, how does it work? The quiz is based on me posting four clues over three days, with the answer being revealed/confirmed on the fourth day.

To solve the puzzle, you will need to spot the connection between each of the clues. That will get easier as each clue is revealed. BUT there is more.......! In addition to spotting the connection, you can also try and guess what the remaining clues may be.

For instance:
Clue 1 (day one) Snell
Clue 2 (day one) Eggins
Clue 3 (day two) Davy
Clue 4 (day three) Steve Brown

The answer is Saltash (area) butchers of the past; but how soon would you have solved it and would you have been able to suggest the remaining clues?

So let's try to solve this week's Past-Puzzle with these clues
Clue 1: C. Underhill
Clue 2: G. Coffin
Clue 3: W.M. Snell
Clue 4: C.N.P. Westaway
What links the clues? The answer will be revealed on Sunday.

Good luck!

Well done to everyone who replied to our Saltash Remembered Past-Puzzle post this week. The answer is Western National buses that served Saltash. The company's buses had a distinctive green livery, though some later became blue and white toward the end of the company's lifespan.

Individual clues - (All routes shown went via Saltash);
Route 198 - Plymouth to Forder and return
Route 72 - Plymouth to Looe and return
Route 76 - Plymouth to Callington and return
Route 73 - Plymouth to Forder and return (Route 198 renumbered in the late 1970s)

It is good to see so many people got the answer correct and encouraging to note that several other bus routes were suggested as potential clues.

There will be another Past-Puzzle next week.

The answer to our first Saltash Remembered 'Past Puzzle' question is Methodist Churches/Chapels. Which ones do you remember?

Thanks to absolutely everyone who had a go and many congratulations to those who solved it correctly.

Besides the four shown below there are several more current or former Methodist places of worship in our PL12 area, can you name any?

There will be another Past Puzzle question to solve next week.

Your final clue is.......Saltash, Wesley Road.
What links all four clues? The answer lies in the past (although in one or two cases, remains in the present too).

Thankyou to everyone who has guessed on days 1, 2 and 3 of this puzzle, there have been some super answers but were any of them right? The answer will be revealed tomorrow - but for now, can you say what links all four? Don't forget that you can have another try today, even if you've already had a go on a previous day - that's the beauty of this puzzle, you can keep on trying each day until day 4 because you have one entry per person, per day.

Our new clue today is Burraton, with the helpful further hint of Liskeard Road.

So, you're looking for something that connects Forder with Callington Road/Glebe Ave junction in Saltash and also with Burraton. What existed/exists at all three locations?

Don't worry if you had a go yesterday and/or the day before; you can try again each time there is a new clue. There have been some very good answers so far, but are any of them correct? Today's clue should help determine that!

Remember too that, if you want, you also get to suggest what tomorrow's clue should be, based on what you think the connection is that links the three clues already given.

Give it a go; well done if you get it right and it's no problem if you get it wrong because you get one last chance tomorrow.
