As a not-for-profit organisation, the voluntary panel offers a unique opportunity for artists to contribute to a challenging exhibition calendar that may not fit into a solely commercial gallery. Entries are welcomed from both established and new artists, artists of any media, individuals and groups in the hope that the widest possible spectrum of works can be highlight

ed and shared with local audiences. Positioned in the centre of Shrewsbury, the gallery is an established part of Shropshire’s art scene. As well as organising activities at Gallery3, the SADAA art panel has successfully run the Shropshire Open Competition for many years and this year’s competition promises to be bigger and better than it has ever been before. The panel also runs a number of art visits each year.

Such a lovely evening at Gateway Gallery last night for Faye Lorente Shyllon’s private view of La Pared.

It was warmmmm in there, but somehow that almost suited the evening. There was a lovely buzz in the room, with people chatting, looking with intention and getting a feel for the ideas and connection to Spain within Faye’s work.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening feel so warm, in every possible sense of the word 💛

La Pared is now open at Gateway Gallery until Friday 12 June.

Sitting with Faye one on one is basically like getting your own private TEDx talk 😄

She has such a broad knowledge of artists, ideas, process, history and the way all of those things connect, and you can really feel that when she talks about her work.

Her exhibition, ‘La Pared’ explores her ancestry and her connection to Spain, and it gives the work such a personal depth. It feels thoughtful and layered with the culture.

Faye’s private view is tomorrow at Gateway Gallery, 5 to 7pm, and it’s definitely worth popping along!

Opening soon at Gateway Gallery, La Pared by Faye Lorente Shyllon.

Faye is an artist living and working in Shrewsbury, whose practice is shaped by observation, memory and her connection to Andalucía.

After 25 years teaching art and design, Faye has returned to her own creative practice, working across painting, drawing and mixed materials. Her work brings together architectural forms, repeated motifs, textured surfaces, domestic grilles, windows and references to Spanish spaces and landscapes.

Faye is also closely connected to the wider arts community, as Trustee and ACE Oversight Member of , a Governance Board Member of the National Society for Education in Art and Design , and was of the judges for our very own 2025 Salopian Open.

La Pared, meaning The Wall, opens with a Private View on Thursday 28 May, 5pm to 7pm, with the public exhibition running from Monday 1 June to Friday 12 June.

Faye will also be joining Arts Café at on Tuesday 9 June, offering another chance to hear more about the work, her influences and the ideas behind the exhibition.

This lovely piece, Chrysanthemum Portal 2, is by the wonderful mosaic artist 🌼

As well as being part of the current EBS Showcase, which is on display here at Gateway Gallery for the next couple of weeks, Lindsey exhibits her work regularly in galleries across the country.

She is also running a mosaic workshop tomorrow at English Bridge Studios, and due to a cancellation, there is now one space available.

So if you’ve been admiring Lindsey’s work in the gallery and fancy having a go at mosaic yourself, send her a message directly to book the space.

A lovely last minute chance to make something beautiful ☺️

Spotlight from the current EBS Showcase Exhibition today is the work of .b.design . Josie has recently started a new chapter by joining the collective of resident artists at , and this week she’s taking part in the Shropshire Artisan Showcase in the Darwin Centre 💙

There’s always that moment where an exhibition quietly comes to an end.

Channel Crossing by Harvey Taylor is now in its final days at Gateway Gallery, wrapping up slightly earlier than expected due to the bank holiday closure.

If you haven’t seen it yet, go and spend some time with it while you still can.

Also, Harvey Taylor’s exhibition, Channel Crossing is currently on at the gallery. Tomorrow will be the first of his two conversations, informal discussions exploring his creative process and ideas behind the exhibition. Make sure to call in, 5:15pm to 6:45pm!

Tomorrow evening something new begins at Gateway Gallery.

Channel Crossing, the first solo exhibition by Harvey Taylor, opens with a private view where art, poetry and live percussion meet in the same space.

It is part exhibition, part reflection, and part invitation to think about where creativity comes from in the first place.
