Today, Sunday 11th October, 2026, we welcomed Infant Hercules, a Male Voice Choir from Teesside, to The 1950s Town. Through songs and shared stories, they brought people together (outside the Welfare Hall because it was so popular) in a wonderful display of friendship and community, while raising awareness of men’s mental health and wellbeing.

Northern Roots (headline performers on the Main Stage at this year’s Durham Miners’ Gala!) will be performing folk music in The 1900s Pit Village Band Hall this Sunday, 11th October.

Make sure you stop by between 11.30am and 1.30pm to listen to coal mining songs from the North East.
